Back in her student days, in between the singing and the parties, Lotti
somehow conned the University of Bristol in to awarding her both a BA and
an MA in Music. She specialised in early music, transcribing a heap of
motets by an unheard of sixteenth-century French Composer in to modern
notation. One can only assume that Edward Higgingbottom and New College
Oxford Choir were extremely desperate when they decided to record these
motets and issue them on Collins Classic label (thanks to both of you who
bought the CD by the way…)
Since graduating Lotti has built a career as a concert soprano in the
West of England, performing a mixture of oratorio and recital work but
also lighter repertoire such as Gershwin Flanders and Swann. Her performances
have taken her from St Martin’s in the Fields to Snape Maltings to
Bristol’s Colston Hall and she has also performed live on Classic
FM. Less impressively, she does an unforgettable Abba routine at the karaoke…
Lotti continues to inflict her singing teaching on unsuspecting souls
in the Bristol area and has built up a large private teaching practice
as well as teaching in local schools. She also teaches music theory and
music history as part of the Lifelong Learning Programme at The University
of Bristol and sings every week in the Lord Mayor’s Chapel in Bristol.
